"The evil that men do lives after them; the good is oft interred with their bones"
―Wilhelm Seax, the Bard
The evil that men do lives after them; the good is oft interred with their bones As we fall into the shadowed half of the year, the season of Dreadfall casts its dark pallor across the land. In this season, where Frightmares roam, and draugr certainly wait for anyone silly enough to go out at night, one of the first Dragons that come to mind is the terrifying Deathgripper known as Glaivedriver. Dreadfall Glaivedriver has a reputation for brutality. To even hear the name of this Dragon makes the blood run cold as if his paralyzing venom were already running through one’s veins. There may be no Dragon more famous for brutality, but no story is without nuance, and there is another side to the Dreadfall Glaivedriver that most people know nothing about. After Eret, son of Eret, was converted to the Dragon Rider cause, his team of Dragon Trappers disbanded, and many of them became fisherman. No-name was among those who settled in the area near the Barrens, married, and had a gaggle of children. His youngest son, Ingenavnenda, went missing in the barrens when he was 2 years old. The child had crawled away from the sleigh during a water break, and wasn't discovered as missing until hourWilhelm Seax, the Bards had passed.
No-Name searched the Barrens for several days only to return home to the child playing peacefully in the yard of their house. When questioned, the child said simply, ‘Bodey took care of me.’ A few months later, another hunting expedition across the Barrens brought No-name’s family face to face with the frightening beast known as the Dreadfall Glaivedriver. As the Dragon descended from the sky, No-name grabbed his spear and placed himself between the Dragon and his family. A small voice interrupted him. It was the voice of his son calling, ‘Bodey!’ Ingenavnenda embraced the Dragon like an old friend, and showed his father a side of the monster nobody expected. As the abominable Dragon cuddled his son, No-name dropped his spear. Dreadfall Glaivedriver had been the one to bring his son back to him, proving that one’s reputation is not always the truth about one’s nature.
