"On our ships we have malt and flour and grain, and you are welcome to take as much as you wish, and hold whatever kind of celebration your generosity may dictate."
― Thorfinn Karlsefni, 'Grœnlendinga Saga'
Ever since Lief Erikson brought the Thanksgiving traditions back to the Barbaric Archipelago from Vinland, Berkians have been celebrating the harvest festival in style. The form of the tradition practiced by Vikings has very little to do with the original holiday practiced in Vinland, though. Not having pumpkins or turkeys in the Barbaric Archipelago, the Vikings have been making do with only the most basic understanding of Vinland traditions. Things have been getting weird lately.
Fishlegs has a particular love for the holiday, which he understands as being a celebration of feasting for the sake of feasting. Months in advance of the holiday, he trains himself in overeating endurance trials until nauseous, hoping to expand the capacity of his stomach so as to handle as much food as possible during the holiday. He loves the festival so much, he has obsessively studied what little is known about the people of Vinland in the hopes of doing Thanksgiving justice. Having no frame of reference, he has mistaken the Turkey for some kind of bird of prey, and assumed that Meatlug will become more imposing and terrible in battle if dressed as one.
He's not entirely mistaken.
