The Bulwark is so named for his habit of taking care of his friends. He is a playful creature, whose destructive power is chiefly to be found in his clumsiness. It is not unheard of for the Bulwark to become so focused on a game of chase that it causes untold destruction to its surroundings with its axe-shaped tail. Many Viking homes have been destroyed when The Bulwark rolls over them in his eagerness to catch a passing butterfly. For this reason alone, it is considered dangerous to keep him near Viking habitations.

It is rare for this destructive power to be used deliberately, but woe to those who try to hurt anyone Bulwark has befriended. His ire, once awoken, is difficult to quell and he will stop at nothing to eliminate a threat to a friend.
