Depictions of Thor’s battle with the World Serpent can be found all over the Barbaric Archipelago. In fact it is the most popular subject of Rock carvings and wooden cartouches to be found all over the Viking World. Something about the tale of how the God of Thunder fished the monstrous child of Loki out of the sea using the head of an ox as bait has resonated with people for generations.

To the Hymir tribe in islands to the North-West, the story has a particular significance. They claim to have seen the unexpected result of this battle.

Sunspark will only make its home in the remotest corners of the wilderness, where Vikings are rarely seen. When it charges itself for a hunt, the lightning displays are seen for a hundred miles in every direction. The Hymir tribe calls this phenomenon ‘Thor’s bane’ after the mistaken belief that the Sunspark is the World Serpent electrified by the power of Thor’s hammer.
