The Woodland Slumberjack is known for its enthusiasm for forest management. Many primordial groves of old growth trees have been saved from forest fires and clearcutting by this dedicated Dragon. Its razor sharp wings and controlled fire bursts are the tools by which it makes fire breaks when an inferno threatens its favourite patch of habitat. So dedicated are Woodland Slumberjacks to their task that they will attack anyone felling trees in their territory. These attacks invariably come as a surprise, as the Slumberjack is a shy and solitary Dragon who will remain clandestine until such time as the attack begins. An unsuspecting Viking might land on a particular island in search of lumber for ship and house building and see the largest trees of their life. Taking out their hungry axe, they may make a few chops on the trunk of that tree, sending the sound of axe on wood echoing through the grove. That Viking might not notice the change in the air while a shadowy figure rises from the copse, wakened by the rhythmic echo of the axe. Before they know what’s coming, that shadow will descend on them in a blaze of fire and fury and chase them from the island on threat of their life.
